The printing business is another industry that is being
transformed by the internet. Many new sites are launching
with the express purpose of creating a market for printers
and print buyers. Other sites are offering web-based tools
for commercial printers. All of these sites claim to be
designed to speed up or streamline the printing process.
Among the sites that you should investigate if this interests
you or falls within your area of responsibility are the
following:
Collabria
- targets the printer with web-based solutions to develop
relationships with customers.
ImageX
- creates a custom password protected site for each customer.
ImageX creates a database of customer graphic and paper
standards to facilitate reorders and overall consistency.
Impresse
- announced an agreement with Adobe on November 23, 1999
where Adobe is buying a minority interest and the joint
development of web based standards.
Iprint
- a direct to consumer and small business site with an
easy to use interface.
PrintChannel
- claims to be #1 in online procurement of printing.
Printing Industry Exchange - Receive free quotes from registered printers.
